This tiny red and white house on Governor’s Hill stood empty for 30 years before it was restored and improved. The house has a basement summer kitchen, with a large bake oven fireplace. The thick stone walls made the room a cool place to prepare meals on a hot summer day. The old panelling is still in the summer kitchen.
The house is representative of small country homes built by less affluent people in Colonial times. There are very few of these smaller colonial homes left in Oxford.
