The funds listed above appear to have been those obtained by the state from the sale of the western reserve lands. Under the system then in use, each town received a portion of these funds. In Oxford these were apparently divided among the school districts on a per pupil basis.

A complete listing of school money paid out through the treasurer is included below. It was generally the case that little if any extra funds were used for the education of the students, although the districts did have the power to lay a school tax.
